St. Mary's Cathedral school strives to educate the whole child; mind, body and spirit. We follow the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) as a guideline in Kindergarten through 5th Grades, along with National Catholic School Standards and Benchmarks. Standards are used to plan instructionally for the year and each term. Our teachers use a variety of resources to meet academic goals, including textbooks, workbooks, library resources, Chromebooks, iPads, and other innovate teaching solutions. Each of these resources allows for mastery of curriculum objectives for the year and beyond.
Although we strive to provide a rigorous and challenging academic environment, we are also dedicated to meeting the needs of all our students with the help of an instructional specialist. All students at SMCS receive instruction in the following areas according to TCCBED "Bell to Bell" scheduling guidelines.
English/Language Arts & Reading: (Phonics, Grammar, Handwriting, Writing)-(120 minutes daily in K-5)
